Zeeheldenroute (3 km, or 7 km return)
A walk through forest and dunes, marked by mushroom-shaped waymarker posts. Each post displays a story that recalls the area’s maritime past. The route starts at the Tourist Information point and ends at the beach.Historic Route Hook of Holland (content in Dutch) (7.5 km)
A circular walk through the village and surrounding area. Along the way, you pass landmarks such as the Fort, the Pier and the Troposcatter. The route starts and ends at the Tourist Information point.Ommetje Vineta (8.5 km)
This route circles the Vinetaduin and is marked with panels and posts featuring a green lizard. You walk through beautiful natural areas and sites linked to wartime history, making it interesting for both young and old. This route also starts and ends at at the Tourist Information point.Rescuers at Sea Route (9 km)
Created by ANWB and the Royal Netherlands Sea Rescue Institution. Starting at the rescue station in the historic Berghaven, the route follows the Nieuwe Waterweg, the pier and the beach, before leading through dunes and forest. At the end, climb the old lighthouse of Hook of Holland for a stunning sea view.Defence Park Hook of Holland (8 km)
A route that passes several bunkers and a fort. These historic structures once protected the Nieuwe Waterweg and the Port of Rotterdam.- North Sea Trail: Maassluis – Hook of Holland (14.6 km)
This trail follows the riverbank past harbours before entering the Staelduinse Bos. It’s part of the international E9 route and well marked throughout. A scenic walk with a mix of industrial views and peaceful woodland paths.

This route takes you through the coastal dunes, past Monster and into the greenhouse landscapes of Westland. The final stretch leads into the Staelduinse Bos. - Along the Traces of the Atlantic Wall (30 km)
A shorter version of this coastal atlantic route that introduces you to the many remains of the Second World War and the Atlantic Wall. - Tour of Holland (52 km)
Cycle through the Westland region past Wateringen, Kijkduin and Monster. This route links dunes, coastline and countryside in a varied coastal loop.

Long-distance cycling routes to take you further afield
Several long-distance cycling routes also pass through Hook of Holland:
- LF Coastal Route (626 km)
Runs from Cadzand-Bad near the Belgian border to Bad Nieuweschans in Groningen. Hook of Holland is a natural stop along this iconic coastal route, which you can also cycle in sections. - LF Maas Route (477 km)
Follows the River Maas from Maastricht to where it flows into the sea, passing through Hook of Holland.

- Rhine Cycle Route (EuroVelo 15) – 1,450 km
This popular European route starts at the source of the Rhine in Switzerland and travels through Germany and France before ending in Hook of Holland. Along the way, you experience Europe’s history, regional cuisine and varied landscapes. - Meuse Cycle Route (EuroVelo 19) – 1,050 km
This route runs from the Langres Plateau in France to Rotterdam via Hook of Holland. Cycling through France, Belgium and the Netherlands, you discover the River Meuse across 30 stages and more than 1,000 kilometres of signposted paths.
