Green Ports Partnership trade mission to Brazil

From 2 to 7 March 2024, several Rotterdam-based companies joined a trade mission to Brazil, organized jointly by City of Rotterdam, Rotterdam Partners, Port of Rotterdam, Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), and the Diplomatic Economic Network of the Netherlands in Brazil. This mission builds on the Green Ports Partnership (GPP) launched in 2023 during the World Hydrogen Summit in Rotterdam. The Rotterdam companies on this mission are experts in the fields of sustainable ports, capacity building, shipbuilding, port logistics and the energy sector.

Green Ports Partnership

Green Ports Partnership is a three-year-trade collaboration and activities between Brazil and the Netherlands, with the main goal of supporting Dutch companies wanting to export and invest in Brazil, as well as supporting Brazilian companies with expansion and investment plans in the Netherlands. The program focuses on three different ports in Brazil: Pecém, Paranaguá and Rio Grande do Sul.

With mutual goals to strengthen trade opportunities, specifically in the areas of sustainable port development, logistics and energy transition, this trade mission further proves how valuable international collaborations like Green Ports Partnership can be.

During this trade mission, the Vice Mayor of Rotterdam, Mr. Robert Simons together with the Federal Brazilian Government signed a joint statement confirming that the parties below intend to participate in the Green Ports Partnership, further expanding bilateral cooperation and knowledge sharing in promoting public and private initiatives around port development, port logistics, and energy transition projects such as nearshore and offshore wind energy, and hydrogen production.

The signing parties included Ministries of Ports and Airports and of Transportation, the Special Secretariat of the Investment Partnership Program of the Civil House, the National Agency for Waterway Transportation (ANTAQ), the National Land Transportation Agency (ANTT), the National Department of Transport Infrastructure (DNIT), and Infra SAT. This marks a new important new step in this cooperation, hopefully resulting in more trade opportunities. The signing ceremony took place on the first day of activities at Intermodal South America.
