S2 Grupo boosts Rotterdam's IT&Tech cluster
Rotterdam’s IT&Tech cluster is getting a boost with the arrival of S2 Grupo, a global cybersecurity provider headquartered in Spain and expanding its business internationally.
S2 Grupo specialises in Industrial Cybersecurity with strong expertise in Intelligence and Advanced Persistent Threats. Based at CIC Rotterdam and with plans of expanding their international team with 25 new staff members, S2 Grupo shares their strategic focus on innovation, digitalisation, circularity and more, which tie in with the ambitions of Rotterdam.
Safe and digital transformation
As Cybersecurity experts, S2 Grupo aids organisations around the world with safe and digital global transformation. When looking for a place to expand their international operations, their focus quickly turned to Rotterdam. “The strengths of the industrial and logistics clusters of the Rotterdam area and the level of technological readiness of the region were very appealing to us. This added to the strategic focus we share with the city of Rotterdam on innovation, digitalisation, sustainability, circularity and inclusivity” shares Régis Cazenave, General Manager Western & Northern Europe of S2 Grupo.
Over 50 European projects
Innovation and continuous development are the core of S2 Grupo’s efforts. With a focus on Industrial Cybersecurity, this company aims to protect all types of industrial manufacturing sites, as well as critical infrastructures such as ports, airports and railways. In addition, S2 Grupo plays a big role in protecting companies operating in renewable energy fields such as wind farms, hydrogen power generators and solar plants.
S2 Grupo develops its own propriety technology based on open-source software, made in Europe. This has already resulted in over 50 European projects, with combined investments of more than €15 million. Moreover, this allows European clients to be technologically independent of non-European countries.

Building a cyber-secure world
S2 Grupo’s ambition is to collaborate with Rotterdam’s ecosystem and develop new solutions that would contribute to building a cyber-secure world. Régis Cazenave explains that Rotterdam Partners played a key role in the relocation process, introduction to the market, and getting in touch with the relevant ecosystem partners.
