Unique overnight stays in Rotterdam
Why sleep boringly when it can be exciting? In Rotterdam, you can stay on the water, in a historic site, or even a cell. With trendy hostels, stylish hotels, and unique spots, every overnight stay becomes an adventure!

1. Hotel Not Hotel
What makes a hotel a hotel? The beds? The rooms? The service? In Hotel not Hotel, a room is not a room, but a work of art. In collaboration with various artists and designers from Design Academy Eindhoven, this non-hotel came into existence. Wake up in a piece of art and step into the large ‘living room’ that the rest of the hotel is. Here, you don’t book an overnight stay, but an experience! Hotel Not Hotel is located right next to Central Station and is an 'exhibition' you can visit day and night.

2. Cocondo
As a child, you probably visited a bunker: such a massive, dark structure, built for protection. Cocondo now protects the bunkers and the surrounding (dune) area in and around Hoek van Holland. By giving old bunkers a new purpose and sustainably transforming them into unique places to stay, Cocondo aims to preserve our special heritage. The income from your unforgettable night is used for nature conservation: which means you’ll sleep twice as well!

3. De Ster en De Lelie
Stay in Rotterdam’s heritage, with views of the Kralingse Plas and the Rotterdam skyline: it doesn’t get much more Rotterdam than this! The old miller’s house by the Kralingse Plas is part of the historic and nationally listed mill complex De Ster and De Lelie: the only two remaining working snuff and spice mills. Book a luxury studio (De Ster on the ground floor, De Karot above), watch the stars in the evening, enjoy breakfast with a view of the water, and then take a walk in the Kralingse Bos. Or rent a boat at sailing school De Lelie, in the adjacent former carrot factory.
Boje Ploeg4. Wikkelboats
Book a night at Floating Rotterdam and you’ll sleep on the water! Four sustainable Wikkelhuisjes – made of cardboard – float in the Rijnhaven, offering visitors a unique Rotterdam experience. Because Rotterdam has a lot of water, and we should enjoy it more. Floating Rotterdam will eventually offer the opportunity for various water sports and cultural water activities. But with just the terrace, that phenomenal view, and the built-in jacuzzi on deck (!), a romantic night in the Rijnhaven is guaranteed.
ZwartWit0105. Penthouse Prison
Sleep in a former prison complex, where four cells have been transformed into comfortable bedrooms. The original criminal graffiti and stainless steel toilets, now serving as plant pots, give the complex its character. There is also a relaxation area with books, games, and a television, so you can unwind. You have exclusive access to the complex, which can be locked for privacy. The shared shower still has the look of a prison, but fortunately, warm water flows out.
A conscious and sustainable stay
Enjoy Rotterdam mindfully: arrive green, stay consciously, explore sustainably, and eat locally. Be inspired by the city’s forward-thinking spirit and return home with a smaller footprint!
