VISIT...
BINNENWEG
At the lifestyle store E-Plaza (Binnenwegplein 20d) game enthusiasts can have a whale of a time with all the games, DVDs and phones. A little further along, just past Oude Binnenweg, is Clone Records (Mauritsweg 60). This record store cum label and Internet shop specialises in electronic dance and only sells what the owners themselves like.
At Movimento (Nieuwe Binnenweg 78) you can find great women’s fashion by King Louie and others, as well as fantastic accessories (for the home) at a friendly price. One of the many bars in this street is Ari (Nieuwe Binnenweg 142a). With views of a busy junction, you can enjoy a ciabatta or more typical Dutch snack here.
TIP
On your way to Witte de Withstraat you pass Museumpark, where the Netherlands Architecture Institute and accompanying museum house Huis Sonneveld are located. A must for architecture lovers.
WITTE DE WITHSTRAAT
Shoe addicts (m/f) take note: Dorine Christ (no. 77a) stocks a wide range of Jan Janssen shoes and unique accessories and hats. You can have a sit down and admire your new acquisitions at Bazar (no. 16). This busy yet relaxed bar-restaurant-hotel has a hint of the Northern Africa and has become a household word in the city, as well as much further afield. Beljon - MARGREETH OLSTHOORN (no. 5a) has her boutique right next door. Here she sells e.g. clothes bearing the quality labels Martin Margiela 6 and Day. Nice underwear can be found across the road, at Marlies Dekkers (no. 2). Beautiful, striking and spicy lingerie in an equally beautiful and spicy store. Finally, those who prefer to get around on wheels should visit skateboard store Left (Westblaak 28-30). They have masses of boards, shirts, shoes and magazines, which you can try out straight away in the nearby skate park.
TIP
There are always some interesting exhibitions on at Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen and the Kunsthal, also situated in Museumpark. Or how about an original gift from the museum shops?
